If you remember renting a car in the late 1990s or early 2000s, chances are you either completely avoided the compact car option or experienced a few days of feeling completely (and justifiably) nervous about the vehicle you were in. Although they’re now the preferred choice of drivers looking for extra agility and fuel economy, compact cars used to be the short straw of the automotive market – lacking refinement, reliability or safety features that are now considered baseline.

The Nissan Sentra has been a massive player in this renaissance for the class. Through iterative improvements, the Sentra has set the tone for what a compact car could be and other manufacturers have followed suit accordingly.

For the new 2019 model year, it’s getting even better!

2019 Nissan Sentra New Features

While the sleek and stylish design of the 2018 Nissan Sentra will carry over into the 2019 model, the Nissan Sentra is not without some massive enhancements.

For starters, NissanConnectSM infotainment is now available on the compact car model. This technology gives drivers an enhanced information and entertainment experience that includes compatibility for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, technologies that mirror your preferred smartphone’s display and apps in a minimally-distracting way. All trim levels but the base, S, will receive this upgrade.

A brand-new package, the 2019 Nissan Sentra SV Special Edition Package, delivers extra style and practicality for drivers, giving them 17-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a suite of active safety features that includes Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and more. Also included with this package, a power sliding glass moonroof and special edition badges pull the Sentra into entry-luxury territory.

Still a Top Compact Contender
